How to disable/enable Chat or Social Stream on my channel?

Do you wish to hide your chat or social stream or you wonder how to select other users as chat moderators? Watch this video tutorial!

Mouse over your username in the upper right corner and click on Dashboard

You will see a menu in the left portion of the screen where you will click on Chat

Now you will be able to choose to disable/enable Social Stream or Chat or both.

After that you can click Save to save your settings.

Unacceptable Chat Login Character

Usernames that begin with a dash (-) will not be able to log into a chat room.  When logging into a chat room, the username field will not accept a dash as the first character, however it will accept a dash if it is not the first character of a username.

Example:

Unacceptable username for chat: -BlueSharkies

Acceptable username for chat: Blue-Sharkies

Trouble Logging Into Chat

If you cannot log into chat, please make sure that you have the correct login information.  Double check that you have entered your username and password correctly.

If you are certain that you have entered your username and password correctly, and still cannot get into chat, it is possible that the chat room you are attempting to get into is full.  This problem will only occur with channels that experience high traffic.  Please continue to attempt logging in periodically until a spot becomes available.

Chat Load Problems

If you cannot see the chat room, you could be behind a Firewall that has blocked off the necessary ports that allow Ustream to connect.

To open Firewalls:
You want to check whether the standard ports for video streaming and chat are blocked. They are port number 1935 for video streaming and port number 6667 for IRC chat. Here is information on how to open the ports:

Recording the Chat Room

We do not record chat logs. However, you can cut and paste from the chat window before you close your broadcaster if you'd like to save the chat.

If you were banned from a chat room, the decision to un-ban you is up to the moderator of the chat room and not Ustream. Only the moderator of that chat can lift the ban.
